STATE SUMMARY

Educator Effectiveness

What percentage of public school teachers are inexperienced, teaching out-of-field or ineffective?

Inexperienced teachers are educators who have an initial two year license.

Out of field teachers are those operating on a provisional license because they do not meet the licensure requirements in a particular content area.

Ineffective teachers are teachers who do not meet the Iowa Teaching Standards.

The quartile tables show all Iowa public schools, including Title I schools, broken into quartiles by free or reduced lunch eligibility status (High/Low Poverty) and percent students of color. The purpose of this analysis is to examine the differences between high and low to ensure equity exists.
